The Department of Physics at the College of Science, KNUST is exploring a potential collaboration with ECHT Environmental Services Limited to advance research in low-cost sensors and environmental monitoring technologies.
The discussions took place during a visit by officials of ECHT, operators of the GOCEMS platform, a real-time industrial emissions monitoring system developed in partnership with Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Head of Department, Prof. Kofi Ampong, led the engagement, which focused on aligning the department’s research expertise with ECHT’s ongoing industrial monitoring projects.
The proposed partnership is expected to support innovation in sustainable and affordable environmental sensing technologies.
Both parties expressed optimism about future collaborations aimed at strengthening environmental compliance, industrial monitoring, and sustainability-driven research.
Faculty members who joined the discussions included Dr. Michael Edem Donkor, Dr. Jeffery Nii Armah Aryee, Dr. Linus Labik, and Dr. Cyril D. Boateng.
