Precious Baah, an alumna of the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, College of Science, has been admitted as a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), marking a major professional milestone and underscoring the College’s contribution to science-based professional education.
The Fellowship is one of the highest professional qualifications in the actuarial field and is awarded after candidates complete a rigorous series of examinations, meet practical experience requirements and adhere to internationally recognised professional standards.
Baah’s achievement reflects the strong grounding in mathematics, statistics and analytical sciences provided by the College of Science, which prepares graduates for specialised careers in insurance, pensions, investment management and financial risk analysis.
Founded in 1889, the Society of Actuaries is the world’s largest actuarial professional organisation, with more than 34,000 members worldwide.
The body advances actuaries as leaders in measuring and managing financial risk to improve outcomes for individuals, organisations and the public.
The Society traces its roots to the Actuarial Society of America and the American Institute of Actuaries, which merged in 1949 to form the present organisation.
Its work includes setting global education standards, preparing members through professional training and engaging the actuarial community to address emerging financial and societal risks.
Baah’s elevation to Fellow adds to a growing list of College of Science alumni attaining internationally recognised professional qualifications, reinforcing KNUST’s role in training science graduates who compete and lead on the global stage.
