Mrs. Mercy Vanessa Appiah-Castel is currently the Deputy / College Registrar at College of Science, KNUST.
Mrs. Appiah-Castel holds a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the University of Ghana (2002) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Geography from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(1999). She has a certificate of participation from the San Diego State University's (California, USA) Council of International Programs (CIP, January - May 2000).
She started her Higher Education Management career at KNUST in June 2004. Since being employed at KNUST, she has worked at the Faculty of Law,(July-December,2004), Provost Office-College of Art and Social Sciences(January 2005 - November 2008), the International Programmes Office (IPO November 2008 - March 2015).
In May 2015, she earned a certificate in University Administrative Practice from the Association of Commonwealth Universities ( ACU) at School of Oriental Arts ( SOAS), London.
In March 2015, she was transferred to the General Administration Division of the Registrar’s Offices (March 2015 - February 2022) and later to the Dean's Office, Faculty of Educational Studies (February 2022 to 31st November 2024).
Whilst with the Faculty of Educational Studies (November 2024), she acted as the Registrar for the College of Art and Built Environment ( CABE) and supervised the College’s 58th Congregation. Her areas of specialization and interests in Higher Educational Management are : University Administrative Practice, General University Administration (Management of Municipal Services Transportation , Security etc.) and International Relations and Collaborations.
Her research interest includes: Administrative and Professional Capacity Building, Community Impact Programmes, International Collaborations, Gender Mobilization Issues and Institutional History Documentations. She is married with three children.
