Prof. Jacob Kwaku Agbenorhevi, Head of the Department of Food Science and Technology at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been honoured with two prestigious 2026 Springer Nature Editor of Distinction Awards in recognition of his outstanding contributions to academic publishing and scholarly peer review.
The awards, presented by Springer Nature, recognize Prof. Agbenorhevi's editorial service to the international journal Food Biophysics.
He received the Editorial Contribution Award 2026 and the Author Service Award 2026, placing him among the publisher's top-performing editors.
According to Springer Nature, the Editorial Contribution Award recognizes editors who rank among the top 20 percent for manuscripts sent to peer review, reflecting their diligence in evaluating submissions and ensuring a robust and effective peer-review process.
The Author Service Award is conferred on editors who rank among the top 20 percent for time to first decision, acknowledging their commitment to providing authors with an efficient, constructive and fair publishing experience.
In a letter announcing the awards, Springer Nature commended Prof. Agbenorhevi's dedication to his journal and research community, noting that his efforts in supporting authors, expanding scholarly networks and advancing scientific discovery have made a significant impact.
“By rewarding you, we recognize the vital role you play in managing the peer review process and demonstrate our commitment to showcasing these activities,” the publisher stated.
