The Provost of the College of Science, Prof. Philip Antwi-Agyei, has encouraged the 2025 graduating class to view their degrees not as a finish line, but as the beginning of a lifelong journey of discovery.

Addressing the 59th Congregation, he reminded the graduands that “your education is not a destination, it’s a launching pad,” urging them to step confidently into the world equipped with curiosity and resilience.

Prof. Antwi-Agyei further encouraged the graduands to embrace continuous learning, humility, and the power of strong networks.

He advised them to make thoughtful and grounded decisions as they enter adulthood. “Your success will often depend on the people you surround yourself with,” he said. “Build meaningful relationships and collaborate to achieve common goals.”

The College of Science graduated 2,014 undergraduate students this year, celebrating a cohort whose academic journeys were marked by determination, sacrifice, and powerful stories of triumph.

The morning ceremony honoured 905 graduands from the Faculty of Biosciences, with 228 earning First Class distinction. The Faculty of Physical and Computational Sciences graduated 1,109 students in the afternoon session.

This year's achievements also featured a remarkable individual milestone: Mr. Ebenezer Appiah Odei, a student from the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, emerged as both the Best Graduating Student for the College and the Overall Best Graduating Student for the entire University, achieving an impressive CWA of 88.06.

Beyond academic results, Prof. Antwi-Agyei highlighted the College’s impact across teaching, research, innovation and community engagement.

The College recorded 511 scholarly publications, secured major international grants, and strengthened partnerships with institutions across Europe and the Global South.

These collaborations have supported research into air quality, child health data science, sustainable agriculture, and climate resilience, while also providing international study opportunities for more than 100 students through the long-running JUNIA Mobility Programme in France.

He extended heartfelt appreciation to parents, guardians, industry partners and staff of the College for their unwavering support throughout the academic year. “If our graduands stand tall today, we know they are standing on your toils and sweat,” he added
