In the true spirit of love and solidarity, the Science Students’ Association (SCISA) marked this year’s Valentine’s Day with an act of kindness that resonated deeply within the college community. On the 14th of February 2025, SCISA made a generous donation of food items to the college food bank, reaffirming its commitment to supporting students in need.

This timely gesture was made in recognition of the challenges some students face in securing adequate meals. Understanding that love is not just about words but about actions that uplift others, SCISA took the initiative to ensure that no student in the college is left struggling alone. The donation reached 150 student beneficiaries, making a meaningful impact on their well-being.

The event was organized under the leadership of Mr. Prince Ofori Frimpong, the Welfare Head of SCISA, along with his deputies, Mr. Caleb Sencherey and Mr. Frecandy Alhassan. The presentation of the donated items was held in the presence of the College Counselor, Mrs. Bernice Serwaah Ofosuhene Peasah, and the Head of the Mathematics Department, Very Rev. (Prof.) William Obeng-Denteh, who is also the former Welfare Head of the College.

Speaking at the presentation, Mrs. Peasah commended SCISA for the thoughtful initiative, emphasizing that acts of kindness like this foster a supportive academic environment. She encouraged students to embrace the culture of giving, noting that such contributions go a long way in promoting a sense of community and care within the college.

Very Rev. (Prof.) Obeng-Denteh also lauded SCISA for the donation, highlighting the significant impact of student-led initiatives in enhancing welfare support structures. He recalled his tenure as Welfare Head and how similar initiatives had played a crucial role in assisting students during difficult times.

The SCISA leadership expressed gratitude to all SCISAns who contributed to making the donation possible, reaffirming the association’s dedication to the well-being of its members. They also encouraged continuous support for the college food bank, urging students and staff alike to contribute in any way they can to sustain the initiative.

The ‘Symphony of Hearts’ event is a testament to SCISA’s unwavering commitment to service, reminding the college community that love, at its core, is about showing up for one another. As the echoes of Valentine’s Day fade, the impact of this noble act will continue to resonate in the hearts of many.
