START IT RIGHT
Freshmen at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology were seen to be naive and of low confidence with regard to matters on campus upon their arrival. The Science Students’ Association of the College Of Science decided on a program that would include inviting speakers who are well adept in relationship talks, time management, finance management and academic improvement to deliver to these freshmen to enable them to manage their lives on campus successfully. The program was successfully organized on the 20th of January, 2023 at the Allotey Auditorium as it climaxed the association’s Freshers Akwaaba Week.
The invited speakers were;
- Uncle Kofi Owusu (Relationship Coach and Counselor)
- Michael Ampah (Pharmaceutical Microbiologist)
- Teddy Adjei Yeboah (Life Coach and Trainer)
TOMORROW’S LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
Tomorrow’s Leaders we say are the learners of today. This program was a partnership program between TIKVAH AFRICA (Africa Centre for Youth Development) an organization that seeks to empower and train the youth of today to achieve their potential and the Science Students’ Association. The aim of this program was to train and nurture the leadership in the association and the school at large with quality leadership skills, time management and various leadership opportunities. This program was dated on 11th February, 2023 at the Allotey Auditorium.
The speakers included;
- Rev. Bonaventure Eshun (CEO of TIKVAH AFRICA)
- Mr. John Baffour Barnes (Innovative Strategist at Twine Pine Marketing)
- Mrs. Mavis Emefa Eshun (CEO of BIOLAB, Diagnostic Centre)
- Rev. James Najimba (Monitoring and Evaluation Expert)
BE YOU BE HEALTHY
As the health of the student’s in the college is very imperative, the Women’s Commission of the Science Students’ Association in collaboration with Upright Vision Concept, the Office of the Counsellor, the College of Science and KNUST Wellness Centre organized an international health promotion program dubbed ‘BE YOU, BE HEALTHY’. The program focused on topics such as;
Feminine health, family planning, diet, body positivity and nutrition assessment.
The speakers for the program were;
- Mrs. Lorie James MA (Founder of Purpose Youth Foundation Int. USA)
- Mrs. Nickeya Hannah (CEO of Hygiene First,USA)
- Mrs. Faustina Asantewaa Saahene ( Marie Stope’s Centre Manager, Kumasi)
- Mrs. Bernice Ofosuhene Peasah (College of Science Counsellor)
- Dr. Mrs. Mary Amoako(Lecturer, Biochemistry and Biotechnology Department)
- Miss Princess Divinewealth-Anie (MPhil Human Nutrition and Dietetics student)
- Assessment by KNUST Wellness Centre ( BMI, Weight, Height, Visceral fat and Metabolic age were checked for students for free, dietary consultation was done as well).
The association was privileged to receive sanitary pad donations from the international speakers to the Women in Science sanitary bank.
The program was dated on the 15th of March, 2023.
WISë HOUR
This is an annual capacity-building program organized by the Women’s Commission of the Science Students’ Association to build the abilities of students through talk shows, outreaches and skills training. This year’s was the 3rd edition with the theme; “organizing women for the developing world through science technology innovation and entrepreneurship”. Women who are well adept in the field of science and entrepreneurship were invited to talk to the young women of the college. WiSTEM (Women in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) an organization in the school also took the women through mentorship in leadership and academics.
Awards were given to female deserving students in entrepreneurship, leadership and more.
This program was as well used to launch the WISë website and mobile app.

- Miss Thelma Akyere Hayford (OXFAM in Ghana, Gender Advisor EU Enough)/li>
- Mrs. Mavis Emefa Eshun ( Presidential award winner in the 2023 state awards
- Miss Natalie Fort (News Anchor and TV Host, GHone TV, Founder of Fort Group)
- Mrs. Ama Pratt ( General Manager, Pan Africa TV)
- Miss Sarah Odei Amoani (STEM Ambassador for Ghana, 3rd runner up, Ghana’s Most Beautiful)
