The Science Students’ Association (SCISA), the umbrella body representing students of the College of Science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has elected a new team of executives to steer the affairs of the Association for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Founded in September 1982, SCISA serves as the representative body for students across the College’s constituent departments, promoting academic excellence, student welfare, and interest in the study of science.
The Association also facilitates student development through seminars, scientific publications, exchange programmes, and advocacy on academic matters affecting students.
Following a successful electoral process supervised by the SCISA Electoral Commission under the theme “Serve Well!”, the newly elected executives are expected to champion the interests of over 10,000 science students and strengthen student engagement within the College.
The elected executives are:
- President: Baffoh Andy Opare
- Vice President: Clement Owusu Basoah
- General Secretary: Genevieve Karikari Owusuwaa
- Financial Secretary: Brefo Samuel
- Organizing Secretary: Jedidiah Amakye Bediako Antwi
- Women’s Commissioner: Adu Faustina
The new leadership assumes responsibility for coordinating student-centered initiatives, supporting academic progress, and fostering unity among students across SCISA’s constituent departmental associations, including Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Actuarial Science, Environmental Science, Meteorology and Climate Science, Optometry, and Chemical Sciences.
With a membership of over 10,366 students, SCISA continues to play a critical role in promoting the study of science and related disciplines while creating an enabling environment for academic excellence and student representation.
The College of Science congratulates the newly elected executives and expresses confidence in their ability to provide visionary leadership and uphold the values of service, accountability, and academic advancement in the discharge of their duties.
