College of Science Holds Maiden Administrative Meeting to Set Agenda for 2026

The College of Science, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has held its maiden meeting for administrative staff to review activities for the past year and outline strategic priorities for 2026.

The meeting, led by the College Registrar, Mrs. Vanessa Appiah Castel brought together administrators from the various faculties and departments within the College.

The meeting looked ahead to 2026, outlining plans for a proposed capacity-building retreat scheduled for March 2026, while also examining key workplace issues, including discipline, professional relationships, accountability and self-branding.

In her address, the College Registrar, Mrs. Vanessa Appiah Castel, acknowledged the concerns raised and called on administrators to have a clear understanding of their roles and departmental mandates.

She stressed the importance of open communication, encouraging staff to promptly share challenges so collective solutions can be developed.

Mrs. Appiah Castel highlighted communication, persistence, and perseverance as key attributes for effective administration, noting that challenges are inevitable but can be overcome through teamwork and resilience.

“Always strive to maintain balance and remain hopeful. Difficult moments will not last forever,” she said.

She further emphasized the need for teamwork, urging administrators to work collaboratively to project a positive image of the College of Science. “We must cherish teamwork. Together, we present the face of the College of Science to the University and the public,” she added.

Mr. Faustino Zini, Junior Assistant Registrar at the Faculty of Physical and Computational Sciences, underscored the importance of hard work and effective information flow in ensuring smooth administrative processes.

He encouraged administrators to be proactive, transparent, and responsive, stressing that timely release of information is critical to efficient college administration.

He further urged staff to raise their performance standards to support the College’s vision and enhance service delivery across all units.

The College Counsellor, Mr. Rabbi Darko, addressed participants on the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life.

He emphasized the need for administrators to nurture positive relationships both at work and at home, noting that emotional well-being and family support play a vital role in workplace productivity.

He encouraged staff to remain committed to their professional responsibilities while making deliberate efforts to spend quality time with their families.

The meeting also announced an orientation programme for fresh students of the College of Science, scheduled for Thursday, 8th January 2026 at 12 noon.
