An alumnus of the Department of Food Science and Technology at the College of Science, Godfred Lartei Lartey has been selected for the prestigious Mastercard Foundation–EARTH University Fellowship Program, joining the 2026 Cohort under the Agricultural Innovation Through Science and Research Track.
Godfred’s selection recognises his academic excellence and growing commitment to research and innovation in food science.
The program supports talented young professionals as they transition into impactful careers in research and innovation.
Under the fellowship, Godfred will undertake a one-year research commitment with the Department of Food Science and Technology, working under the supervision of Dr. John-Lewis Zinia Zaukuu.
The placement is designed to provide a supportive but challenging research environment that fosters professional growth while strengthening practical contributions to food science research.
Speaking about the opportunity, Godfred described it as a stepping stone toward building a long-term career in research. ‘I look forward to applying my skills to ongoing projects, particularly in the area of food authentication and food safety,’’ he said.
The fellowship also provides structured mentorship, allowing fellows to learn from experienced researchers and industry professionals.
Godfred expressed gratitude to Dr. John-Lewis Zinia Zaukuu and Prof. Jacob Kwaku Agbenorhevi for their guidance and encouragement. He also expressed gratitude to the Mastercard Foundation–EARTH University Fellowship Programme team and the Department of Food Science and Technology.
