Ampaw-Asiedu, who completed her studies at the College in 2017, earned the Fellowship after successfully completing the rigorous requirements set by the Society of Actuaries.

The Fellowship is one of the highest professional qualifications in the actuarial field and is awarded after candidates complete a demanding series of professional examinations, meet practical experience requirements and demonstrate advanced competence in areas such as financial risk modelling, insurance systems, pensions and investment analysis.

Her achievement reflects the strong grounding in mathematics, statistics and analytical sciences provided by the College of Science, which prepare graduates for specialized careers in insurance, pensions, investment management and financial risk analysis.

Founded in 1889, the Society of Actuaries is the world’s largest actuarial professional organization, with more than 34,000 members worldwide. The body advances actuaries as leaders in measuring and managing financial risk to improve outcomes for individuals, organizations and the public.

The Society traces its roots to the Actuarial Society of America and the American Institute of Actuaries, which merged in 1949 to form the present organization. Its work includes setting global education standards, preparing members through professional training and engaging the actuarial community to address emerging financial and societal risks.

Ampaw-Asiedu’s elevation to Fellow adds to the growing list of College of Science alumni attaining internationally recognized professional qualifications, reinforcing KNUST’s role in training science graduates who compete and lead on the global stage.
