The GCES Project is also offering scholarship for Master of Philosophy in Vision Science at the Department of Optometry, KNUST. The scholarship will cover tuition fees and monthly stipend of the successful applicant for the duration of the programme.
ELIGIBILITY
- Must be formally admitted and currently enrolled in the MPhil Vision Science programme at the Department of Optometry, KNUST
- Must be in good academic standing at the time of application
- Demonstrated interest in vision science research
- Must have excellent academic records

ABOUT THE GCES PROJECT
The College of Science Office of Grants and Research, invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to support an ongoing research project titled “The Ghana Children’s Eye Study (GCES)” at the Department of Optometry, College of Science, KNUST. The study aims to establish a vision screening program to determine the prevalence, incidence and potential modifiable risk factors of pediatric ocular diseases including refractive errors, amblyopia, strabismus, and allergic eye diseases in Ghanaian school children. Additionally, the costeffectiveness of incorporating a vision screening program in the basic school system in Ghana will be assessed. The study will ensure early detection and treatment of visual impairments before they affect children's educational outcomes.
