Department of Chemistry Crowned Champions at College of Science Inter-Departmental Quiz Competition

The Department of Chemistry has emerged as champions of the College of Science Inter-Departmental Quiz Competition after weeks of intense competition, securing the title as part of activities marking the 75th anniversary celebrations of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.

The competition brought together departments across the College of Science in a series of faculty-level rounds, where teams were tested on the sciences, KNUST's history, current affairs, critical thinking and other areas of general knowledge.

Following a closely contested final, the Department of Chemistry claimed first place, ahead of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Biology and the Department of Food Science and Technology.

Beyond the honours, the three finalist departments have earned the right to represent the College of Science at the upcoming inter-college quiz competition, where they will compete against top teams from other colleges across KNUST as part of the university's anniversary celebrations.

The quiz competition forms part of KNUST's 75th anniversary programme, designed to promote academic excellence, healthy competition and collaboration among students while showcasing the intellectual strength of the University's academic departments.

Organisers commended all participating departments for their dedication and competitive spirit throughout the competition, noting that the event highlighted the depth of talent and scientific knowledge within the College of Science.

The College will now look to the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Theoretical and Applied Biology, and the Department of Food Science and Technology to represent it at the next stage of the university-wide competition.
