KNUST, through the Office of Grants and Research (OGR), is committed to providing high-quality research support services to meet the growing demands of the University’s research enterprise and effectively manage grants and research activities.
STRATEGIC MANDATE
The Office of Grants and Research (OGR) provide comprehensive research support services to researchers to help the University achieve its strategic research and knowledge dissemination goals. The Office also offers research and grant administration support for both externally and internally funded research projects at KNUST.
OGR supports staff through four (4) key departments:
Pre- and Post-Award Department
The Pre- and Post-Award Department is responsible for supporting grant sourcing and management processes across the entire grant lifecycle.
Capacity Development Department
The Capacity Development Department identifies individual and institutional research capacity gaps and implements measures to strengthen research performance across the University.
Research Performance and Visibility Department
This Department is responsible for ensuring research and grant compliance, monitoring research outputs and performance, and enhancing the visibility of the University’s research contributions.
Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Department
The Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Department ensures that staff, students, and visitors receive the appropriate protection for their inventions and creative works. The Department also promotes innovative research, university-industry collaboration, and technology transfer for national development and wealth creation.
Finance Department
The Finance Department oversees grant financial services throughout the grant cycle and ensures compliance with institutional and donor requirements.
COLLEGE OGR OFFICE
Since February 2022, the College Research Offices have been fully operational, serving as the link between the main Office of Grants and Research and the six colleges of the University. The establishment of these offices has improved access to project management and research support services across the pre-award, award, and post-award stages of grant management.
The offices also facilitate the collection of grant and research information while addressing college-specific research support needs.

RESOURCES
The OGR provides a compilation of commonly used research administration tools, resources, and information. It includes handbooks, downloadable forms, checklists, templates, policies, and guidelines to support researchers in proposal preparation and award management.
Researchers can also access useful grant-writing tips, guides, and funding-related resources through this platform.
The Office of Grants and Research continuously update and uploads relevant resources to support the University’s research community.
